The Barbara Olson Center of Hope’s 65th Anniversary year is in full swing, and you’re invited to an Open House at the Center of Hope on Wednesday, June 26th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We’re inviting the entire community! The parents of the Center’s participants will be providing tours of the Center during regular business hours. They will explain the many unique programs and their benefits that our adults with developmental disabilities work through every day. You’ll have a chance to see our Occupational Therapy Clinic that is available to the public, our in-house businesses (Super Shredders and Hope Industries) at work, providing paid jobs and skills development for our participants. Love Your River Day – Celebrate the Kishwaukee River – June 8 th The public is invited to Espenscheid Forest Preserve, on the banks of the Kishwaukee River in Cherry Valley, IL, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday June 8 th for Love Your River Day . The festival will feature a Loot for Litter river clean-up, prize drawings, giveaways, river safety demonstrations, wildlife exhibits, environmental education activities and free four-color Kishwaukee River wildlife posters. Cash prizes will be awarded to individuals collecting the most litter. Admission is free. Love Your River Day is a kick-off celebration for a summer-long campaign sponsored by Friends of the Kishwaukee River, the Winnebago County Forest Preserve District, and the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance.
