Hurd, White, and Dahl are Midwestern songwriters with loyal fan bases and multiple accolades to their collective credit. Though they normally perform individually, at Just Goods they will share their songs in an intimate “in-the-round” format, commenting on and adding texture to one another’s work. Dahl, Hurd, and White are all firmly rooted in the folk tradition, with songs that roam freely to explore country, jazz, and rock traditions.

Rockford’s own acclaimed country-soul singer Emily Hurd is a prolific songwriter, best known for her clear voice and intelligent rhymes. New York Times says of Hurd: "She sits at the piano, lips to the microphone, Frye boot to pedal, and speaks her mind—in song." Her songs have appeared on NPR, as well as on television's NCIS90210, and The Good Wife.  She has currently produced 12 full-length albums of original material, including a brand-new record called Landmark.

Independent folk-rock touring singer/songwriter Emily White has been described as standing out “conspicuously from the pack…with her hushed, preternaturally haunting vocal delivery and bewitching sense of indie-rock-informed melody” (Connect Savannah). She has released four albums to date, most recently the Kai Welch-produced LP Staking Flags in the Valley.  She is based out of Chicago, but travels regularly throughout the US, captivating crowds with her unique voice and favorite Martin guitar, bringing her Southern roots and Midwestern charm to each city she visits.

Wisconsin singer-songwriter Katie Dahl, says the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, “combines old-fashioned populism, an abiding love of the land and wickedly smart love songs, all delivered in a rich and expressive alto.” The literate candor of her songs and the easy humor of her live performances earned her numerous songwriting awards, as well as the chance to share stages with some of America's most respected songwriters, including Dar Williams, Peter Mulvey, and Cheryl Wheeler. Katie is also a playwright whose musical, Victory Farm, premiered to high acclaim in 2012 and has since been made into a live cast album. Wisconsin Public Radio calls Dahl “the real deal."

Editor's Note - Emily Hurd is a great talent, you should try to make this performance.
