My team played better in week one. We picked up a win that week. We lost in week number two. Not sure if we're a cold-weather team or if it was just a coincidence...

To the Editor: Lisa Madigan came through for H.O.M.E.S. | The Rock River Times

Lisa Madigan, the Illinois attorney general, sent me, on April 20, one of her monthly updates… so I sent her one of mine because I have been fighting for H.O.M.E.S. for over three years.

"PLEASE, enforce the law and publicly penalize Stoneridge Dairy for the 10-mile fish kill on the Sangamon River in McLean Co. and A. J. Bos of Traditions Dairy for the purple discharge that entered the Apple River in Jo Daviess Co. The public needs to know that they can't just get away with such catastrophic environmental damage. The young and upcoming dairymen need to understand that the scale of industrial farming is costly and not profitable, especially when the regulations are enforced. Our future depends on clean waterways...

To the Editor: New bill would authorize treatment for juvenile offenders | The Rock River Times

Should children who commit low-level offenses be incarcerated, or is there a more productive use of scarce state resources? This is one of the issues posted in House Bill 83, now pending in the Illinois General Assembly.

This bill would encourage juvenile courts across the state to explore less restrictive alternatives to confinement for children convicted of low-level offenses. Its passage would bring Illinois into 21st-century thinking with regard to juvenile justice...
